Teens, Young Adults Give $525K in Grants to Youth-Oriented Groups

In December 2022, The Baltimore Banner covered the Youth Grantmakers initiative, describing how "Young people don’t typically have the responsibility of deciding how more than half a million dollars gets spent."

The story highlighted the 10 organizations chosen for funding — and a process led by young people from Baltimore. As YG Montaze Cooper told the Banner:

“This is something new. We are reengineering the philanthropic industry by having us at the table making the decisions...We as young people have a clear understanding of what the needs are in our communities, and I am very confident about the 10 grantees we chose.”
